The Graduate & Nursery in the Making...

Yesterday was an exciting day in the Fagundes household.  Daddy-to-Be returned to work after a 2 week vacation (that part was not so fun).  While he was at work, Mommy-to-Be got all the mail from the past 2 weeks and in it was a VERY large, thick envelope from the community college Kevin attended.  I called and told him about the package and could tell he would work faster to get home on time just to open it.

When he got home, he found this inside the envelope:

So proud of you Kevin!

Done!  What a Relief!

I am so proud of Kevin.  He completed that degree while we were in Washington, which meant working full time, deploying to Iraq twice and so many TAD assignments in a year he never even unpacked his suitcase! (TAD assignment: trips all around the country for various purposes, including training others and "playing" terrorist).

I find it amazing that he was able to take on so much while continuing to be a good husband, fur daddy, son, son-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, Uncle and the numerous other roles Kevin was asked to take on during our tour in WA.  CONGRATULATIONS Kevin!  You truly are an incredible man and you deserve this.  Enjoy this moment, as it is yours and you earned it!

After celebrating Kevin's big moment (I bought him an IHome Alarm Clock as his graduation gift which he did find time to play with for a while) we moved on to finishing up the nursery.  Saturday night Kevin put the crib together, Sunday night he finished the changing table and LAST NIGHT was the doozy... the dresser.  We had so much fun building that piece together (I saw how many parts there were and decided I had better pitch in).  After much deliberation and fun we are proud to announce that the nursery furniture is COMPLETE!  Here are photos of the process:

The project officially begins with the crib (Sat. night)

Last piece: the dresser (Mon night):

So Many Pieces!

Told you I helped!

Voila!

The complete collection (very difficult room to set up because there is not one wall that doesn't have something on it--i.e. closet, window, storage shelves)

What a relief to not have to worry about the nursery furniture anymore!  We heard several horror stories about furniture that took over 6 months to receive, then it arrived damaged and needed to be returned, then the baby arrived... etc., etc.  We were told by several people that the earlier we purchased it, the better off we would be!

To our surprise, we did not have to worry about back ordered items, we ordered the furniture and had it less than a week later (which included the Christmas holiday).  Since we had to inspect the furniture for damage within 7 days, we decided we were better off building it now, rather than having a bunch of parts to three separate pieces laying everywhere for months!

So it's now a week before the 4 month mark and Baby F has a complete bedroom set!  Phew!
