First shopping trip

Lorelei & mommy had girls day yesterday while daddy was snowmobiling with papa & Liam was at grammy's. We got all snazzy (Lorelei more than mommy, but oddly mama ended up with pink on too). We hit up old navy (bought the kids some cute clothes) & target (groceries at target, but still fun to be out together). Lorelei did just what you see here... Slept! Guess I'll teach her about retail therapy some other time ;) First photo is before we left & last photo is Lorelei after we got home from our excursion. She's practicing her kangaroo skills (hint: she's in the pouch I'm wearing).

Lorelei's 2 week check up

Lorelei had a great check up! She weighed in at 6lbs, 6oz (doctor was amazed) and is 19 1/4" long. She is growing like a weed! And she checked out great upon physical examination! We just recently ran out of preemie diapers (which were a bit small anyways). Moved on to newborns, which fit perfectly, but ran out of those so we've been using 1's. I'm off to buy newborn diapers today, they definitely fit a bit better! Most of her preemie clothes are too tight. Newborn clothes are a bit big so we are in between sizes. But she's growing fast! I think it took Liam nearly a month to outgrow his preemie clothes. Way to grow Lorelei! Doctor said after shots around 6 weeks we're good to pcs to Hawaii! So we are looking at the end of January/first week of February. Kevin leaves the second week of January & we're trying to minimize the amount of time we are apart (Liam is having some issues since the separation!). Other than that, it's been more of the ...

Liam & Lorelei

Liam was fascinated upon arriving at the hospital. First thing he said "mama is her out?" He was very curious in the hospital but when asked if we should keep her & his reply was "no!" Maybe he's just thinking more by the book... I mean we don't keep rented movies or books now do we? Liam spent a couple nights at Grammy & papas and then a couple at grandma & grandpas! Gave us time to be discharged the following afternoon & ease back into newborn world at home. When Liam did return, life was a bit complicated for a few days. Our sweet toddler came back to us as a terror! Not only are terrible 2's in full swing but he was so tired from missing continuous naps while he was gone & then came home to a new human & routine... It was a challenging week! I am happy to report however that Mr. Liam is back & a greeeeat big brother. He confirms with me daily that Ly Ly is out of my belly & checks on her every morning. He runs in...

The Story of Lorelei

Our scan on Wednesday, Dec. 5th didn't go as we had hoped. We were praying Lorelei would measure 20th percentile or above to avoid induction. Unfortunately, the ultrasound measured Lorelei as 7th percentile and therefore labeled her as IUGR (Intrauterine growth restriction) which meant I would need to be induced the following day for fear she wasn't growing properly in the womb for some reason. Our squished daughter Last night as a family of 3! The wee hours of the morning, before going to the hospital to be induced! My LAST belly shot! Liam spent the night at Grammy & Papa's and our doggies spent the night at Grandma & Grandpa's. We arrived at the hospital at 6am on Thursday, Dec. 6th and by 7:15am the pitocin had been started in my IV. I was at 4cm when they admitted us. They increased my pitocin from 6mg to 30mg from 7:15am-11:15am. NOTHING was happening. Pitocin really wasn't causing strong contractions (definitely not strong enough to...

Lorelei's First Week

I wrote this blog last week & it didn't publish... So here's trying that again! Lorelei is such a good baby. She sleeps through anything and everything (even her brother's wildness!). She is so relaxed, calm and content (just the opposite of our colicky Liam!). Liam is really starting to warm up to her. They are really sweet together! On Monday, Lorelei had her newborn checkup at the pediatrician. They were surprised that she was 6lbs, 1 oz--her exact weight when she left the hospital! The doctor said most breastfed babies are down 10% of their birth weight at this checkup. So, that was really good news. All that worrying and our IUGR baby is growing, strong and healthy! So thankful for that! Lorelei's stump fell off on Monday night, so Tuesday 12/11/12 was her first bath Looks like she didn't enjoy it, but she cried at first, then relaxed and looked at herself in the mirror That feels good mama! Drying off in her favorite towel! Our pretty girl af...
