Back from the Doc!

A Bigger Baby F! I am back from the doctor and thought I'd blog quickly before heading back out for childbirth class.  The doctor said everything is looking great.  Tummy measured 33cm, mommy weighed in at 118.6, baby F's heartbeat is strong & steady!  Doc confirmed baby is head down and said most babies stay that way after they get in that position!  So those are definitely feet in my ribs and causing me heartburn.   I asked about baby being so active still--doctor said that is a GREAT sign of a healthy baby (and that the 3am party is just to prepare mommy for those middle of the night feedings!).  I had my Group B strep test (GBS) which is a kind of bacteria that many people harbor in their intestinal tract.  Nothing too serious--if I have it that just means I will begin getting antibiotics as soon as labor starts or my water breaks (whichever comes first).  We'll find out the results next week.   We're on a weekly schedule...

35 weeks... is it over yet?

I have officially reached the "sick and tired of being pregnant" stage!  My back/feet/butt/EVERYWHERE is killing me, my heart burn never goes away, I am not comfortable laying down, sitting, standing up... I am just not comfortable period.  My limbs are constantly numb, especially when I sleep.  Speaking of sleep--I got in 4 hours last night!   I have a doctor's appointment today (we had to move it up a day as Kevin has work responsibilities to tend to tomorrow).  So I plan to update the blog tonight (after childbirth classes) or if I am too tired I'll get the updates out there tomorrow.  What I do know is: I am either 35 or 36 weeks (depending on which ultrasound you look at!).  I am having contractions--little guy seems to move around a lot as I have them.  He is still pretty active (as a matter of fact he is beating on my ribs and tickling my bladder at this very moment!).  He seems to enjoy moving around in the morning, napping i...

34 Weeks & Updates

Post has been updated!  Thanks to my SIL's comment, I've realized I left out the most recent nursery photos--it is done--we will be adding his name in wooden letters above the closet after his arrival (which is when we have decided he will get his name).    Well, Baby F and Mommy have made it to 34 weeks!  Roughly 42 more days to go!  We're almost there... both mommy & daddy are getting anxious!  BUT we want to make sure Baby F has plenty of time to finish developing and preparing for his long journey.  We love you little guy--the thought of holding you brings tears to my eyes. It occurred to me that I never updated after my last doc. appt.  That was last week! (sorry).  I had gained 21 pounds and my belly grew an entire cm, for a total of 31cm.  Baby's heart beat was fast and steady, the doctor said I looked good and baby sounded great!  He is still convinced he is head down (mommy is pretty positive he is) so all is g...

A Visit to L&D

Unfortunately we paid a visit to the Labor & Delivery unit last night after Mommy took a pretty bad spill off the steps of our stairs.  The good news is Baby F is fine! I was working on the baby album in the living room and decided it was time for a bathroom break, so I headed for down the three steps from our living/kitchen area.  Well, apparently the traction on my house slippers is not very effective (although Daddy is convinced I was going too fast for myself).  Regardless, I hit the edge of the second step with the ball of my foot and lost my balance.  I literally flew into the air with my right leg in the air and the left one following.  I landed hard on my butt and felt pain all through my back up into my neck and had an instant headache.  The baby responded with a body part (butt, I think) sticking up/out of the left center of my belly for about a minute, then "disappeared" for about a little over an hour (no movements, I could not even pinpoi...

Mommy's Day & Showers of Love

Happy Mother's Day to all of the Mommy's & Mommy's-to-Be!   Today I celebrated my first Mommy's Day!  Although I insisted I'm not a mom yet, Kevin said I more than qualify.  Yesterday we went back to where our relationship first started (the pier) and took some more maternity photos with our amateur photographer.  We returned home for lunch, then Kevin took me out for a day of shopping and then to dinner (I was craving Chinese--yummy!).  We capped off the night with a chick-flick I really wanted to see.  It was a lovely day/evening!  This morning I was served banana pancakes in bed and treated to a day of help with housework--vacuuming, cleaning the dishes, loading/unloading the dishwasher and he even helped with the laundry (poor guy really wanted to do this entire chore for me, but he has really bad luck with it, so he helped fold it).  He also installed little man's car seat base in the car and taught me how to do it and finished paintin...
