20 months & Valentine's Day!

Mr. Liam you are 20 months old (as of the 13th, this was unfortunately a 2 day post!). Grandma didn't fail to mark this occasion (as well as Valentine's Day) with MORE gifts. We are so grateful. After Liam received his trains from Grandma, we couldn't get him to put them down for photos or EVER for that matter! He took them to bed with him & was up playing with them again this morning. I'd say it's safe to say this 20 month old LOVES trains!

Liam is very verbal nowadays. His "uh-oh" is the cutest thing I've ever heard. He also says car and is working on train. Today he pointed at a photo of him on the wall and said "me". We sing a song in music titled "me, you & we" so that doesn't surprise me one bit! Animal sounds are his expertise. If I could sum up Liam it'd be animals, trains & books. He loves all three!

He throws away trash if asked (and sometimes even when he's not) and picks up his toys & puts them in the appropriate basket when guided. His comprehension is amazing. I told him to go get his Thomas blanket to cuddle me and watch a movie (Valentine's Day treat). He went to his room, returned with his blanket. A few minutes later, he was spreading his blanket on the floor. I casually mentioned him laying on the couch instead and seconds later, that's where he was!

He will also lay down for diaper changes when asked (but only after he gets his Thomas pillow from his big boy bed, lays it on the floor and then lays himself on top of the pillow... he's too funny!). He will go get a book when told it is story time. He also puts his milk cup back in the refrigerator when he's done with it (we just open the door). We've been giving him a bit more responsibility and independence, which I know I certainly am enjoying (a little less work for mama) and he seems to like his new found freedom. He's a very capable young man and he definitely wants us to know it!

He loves to imitate. Porky is really enjoying the "pat the dog" imitation. Liam sits there and strokes Porky's head. Truly enjoyable for them both. He also tells the dogs "no" and sometimes "no dog" when they get near his food. I bet the dogs would like to do the same when Liam watches them eat! His favorite word is "NO" but today I got "yes" a couple of times... maybe we're about done with the no stage (ha, ya right).

He's improved a lot in gymnastics! I was telling Kevin, it's so nice for me to not come home completely worn out & him still full of energy. He climbs ladders with little assistance (he really doesn't need me, I just don't want him to get hurt). Short of being able to reach the bars, he doesn't need much help with those either (and could hang from them all day). He can even do the monkey bars on his own (and pull ups in between). His physical strength amazes us (and others too!).

He knows quite a few of his ABC's (I think more than he lets on to). He recognized ten on his own the other night. He can say ALL of his letters. He is obsessed with letters when we're out (gymnastics mats, signs, anything with letters stops him in his tracks). Time to work on numbers and colors next! He is obsessed with stickers lately (Thomas stickers of course!)... I'm finding them on the dog, my cabinets, the floor, EVERYWHERE! Oh what fun!

We're still a very picky eater, sticking to breakfast foods, yogurt, fruit cups, cottage cheese, bananas and pizza for the most part. Chicken nuggets have been hit or miss and he NEVER wants the dinner I serve (it's always a special meal for Liam, even though the pediatrician said not to!). He was losing far too much weight though, so I nixed her ideas!

I haven't seen any signs of being ready to potty train and always said I'd be the mom who "waited until he was ready!". From day one Liam has always decided his fate... from demanding sleep on his tummy, to putting himself in a big boy bed. So I know he has it in him to tell me when he's prepared. Although, I may jump start the process and read a book that came highly recommended to me (Oh Crap! Potty Training). At the very least, I will be prepared when he is. I know he knows when he's going to pee, when he's naked he'll look down at his genitalia just before he pees. So he definitely "feels" like he's going to pee!

20 mo stats: 24 lbs, 5 oz (no gain) and 32 1/2 length (no gain). Liam's perfectly content where he's at I guess! Diapers are still size 4 and he wears between 18mo-2t shirts and 18 mo. pants (which his little butt doesn't hold up well!). Same ole, same ole... poor kid!

Here are some photos of my boy a few days before turning 20 months:

We did a bit of Valentine's Day celebrating over the past weekend (we've learned the hard way that Dada may not get to return from work, Valentine's Day or not!). So, we made sure to enjoy ourselves this weekend, just in case!

 Which meant special breakfast...

Strawberry cream cheese pancakes with strawberries, bananas & redi whip! Yummy!

Liam's friend Ben came over on Monday to do Valentine crafts!

And on the big day, Mama made sure to serve Liam something special for breakfast!

Yes, our trains eat with us! (Thanks Grandma!).

And another Mommy invention!

Then, we set out for a Valentine's Day/20 month, 1 day old photo shoot. Photographer is Mom and I do apologize for the orbs in some of the photos. We've checked our lense, it's clean. Since my Vava's passing, these orbs show up in a few photos every time I take photos. I just reassure Liam that he has many angels with him, daily. Lucky kid!

And of course, there were gifts & cards & treats from family & friends all week long :)
Thank you to everyone for all of your love! XOXOXO!

And gifts from Mama & Dada too (dada brought home PIZZA for dinner, Liam's fave, no photos though, sorry!).

Mmm! Good cupcake!

He loves our Camelbak water bottles, so we got him one too!

Hope your Valentine's Day was extra sweet... ours sure was!

Therapy...

Not being silent about our loss is looking to be the best therapy for me during this difficult time. Through Facebook I've had countless friends reach out to me and share their stories of loss. Although it doesn't make me feel better, as we're talking about too many babies in heaven, it does make me feel less alone. So I was diagnosed w/ blighted ovum. Meaning the gestational sac and placenta was growing inside of me (the ultrasound showed it was indeed around 7 weeks along) but the baby stopped developing and was reabsorbed into my uterus. Problem is, the placenta is responsible for pregnancy symptoms, so my body still thinks it is pregnant, but there is no longer a baby or embryo. So, until I actually miscarry the tissue, I will feel pregnant. I don't know how to explain how I've been feeling the past few weeks. At first I thought it was just my uneasy feelings of this pregnancy being "unplanned" and so close to my previous pregnancy. It took me a wh...

25 Weeks & Doctor's Appt.

We hit the 25 week mark today!  Hard to believe!  Time is flying so fast... We had our doctor's appointment today (Kevin is out of town Thursday, so we moved it up).  I weighed in at a whopping 109.8!  My nurse and my doctor's response was they are so so proud of me (I felt so special!  Who would have thought GAINING weight would be so exciting?!).  Kevin's response "WHOA!"  And my response to his "WATCH IT Buddy!"  Ha!  So that's almost 14lbs of weight gain!  I really am quite proud of myself... never thought I could do it (although, I spend most of my time eating these days, so it makes sense). The nurse said I "look cute, am starting to show and have that pregnancy waddle."  Considering I did not feel like I was waddling (sometimes I have to because my tailbone hurts so bad) I was not exactly thrilled about this comment, lol!  I asked Kevin if there is something he is forgetting to tell me... ha! The doctor measured my...
