29 week ultrasound

Here's our pretty lil' Lorelei!

I had a scan today to measure Lorelei's growth (since my tummy continues to measure behind by 1-2cm at every appt.). I also requested the scan because we were told during my last bleeding episode that Lorelei's bowels were lighting up on the ultrasound (possible echogenic bowel syndrome, but 90% of the time, it's nothing!). After transferring to the base, I requested the doctor order a scan so we would know IF she had any issues (minor or severe) what hospital would be best to deliver at (the base does not have a NICU).

Our results: lil' lady is measuring 2lbs, 12 oz (PERFECT!) and she is COMPLETELY healthy as far as scans, blood tests, etc. show. She does NOT have echogenic bowel. As a matter of fact, the doctor said they should have told us that when you bleed, baby almost always swallows the blood and it will light up the bowels. When I told them I was bleeding the day the ultrasound revealed bright bowels, the tech and doc both agreed with 100% certainty that the bleeding was the cause. BOTH agreed she does not have echogenic bowel and is developing normally. Phew, what a blessing!

The doctor and tech agreed I should plan on having a small baby, only because I am small/petite. The tech went on to say boys have larger statures and bigger bones, so she will probably just be petite. Okay, whatever you say. All I heard was 2lbs, 12 oz which is right on target!

Heart rate was 162bpm (where she ALWAYS is!). They said that is perfect! She gave us a few smiles and a couple of photos before she did her Lorelei usual and covered up her face. She HATES ultrasounds and dopplers. They tried shaking my belly, but as usual she refused to uncover her face. She definitely wanted to be left alone! Stubborn (like mama, daddy says!).

She was sucking on her hands!

Some smiling
She is currently head down and VERY low. Tech said USUALLY they stay that way, but sometimes stubborn babies (ahem! Lorelei!) will move. I hope she stays in position but waits until at least 38 weeks to make her entrance into the world!

Her head is literally lying on my cervix and bladder. It must be pretty comfy there, every ultrasound, that's where she is hanging out. The tech said the movements I feel above my belly button are feet! Aww! Going to the bathroom a million times a day is better than kicks to my ribs, so I'll take it ;)

The tech confirmed she is a SHE! 100%, no doubt about it (Kev--you're definitely going to need that shotgun you asked for!). Lorelei took a few photos where she smiled for us (just like her last ultrasound). Gives me hope we may have a happy baby (vs. the ANGRY Liam from birth until 6 mo.! lol).

This makes me sad, she looks like she is crying!

My test results came back the other day. I do NOT have gestational diabetes (they said my numbers were spot on!) and I'm not anemic (I was with Liam, so a woot woot for skipping iron pills this time around!).

This one just pulls at my heart strings! She look EXACTLY like her brother here. This is how Liam sleeps, the face/arm, everything is EXACTLY like Liam. Too cute!

Kevin says she looks like me. Grammy says she looks like Liam. So for fun, here is my last ultrasound with Liam (18 weeks) for comparison:

What are your thoughts? Does Lorelei look like her brother? Or mama? Or dada? With the exception of the one photo above, I really don't see her taking after anyone yet, but that's just me!

The tech took a gazillion measurements and then took a TON of "fun" photos for daddy since he has to be away at school for the Navy. The tech said to give ALL of these to daddy! WOW! Spoiled much?! Of course, I've already sent him photos and I think it's safe to say Miss Lorelei that you've stolen his heart. We love you sooo much pretty girl. Can hardly wait to meet you in a couple of weeks (but there is absolutely NO RUSH!).

Therapy...

Not being silent about our loss is looking to be the best therapy for me during this difficult time. Through Facebook I've had countless friends reach out to me and share their stories of loss. Although it doesn't make me feel better, as we're talking about too many babies in heaven, it does make me feel less alone. So I was diagnosed w/ blighted ovum. Meaning the gestational sac and placenta was growing inside of me (the ultrasound showed it was indeed around 7 weeks along) but the baby stopped developing and was reabsorbed into my uterus. Problem is, the placenta is responsible for pregnancy symptoms, so my body still thinks it is pregnant, but there is no longer a baby or embryo. So, until I actually miscarry the tissue, I will feel pregnant. I don't know how to explain how I've been feeling the past few weeks. At first I thought it was just my uneasy feelings of this pregnancy being "unplanned" and so close to my previous pregnancy. It took me a wh...

25 Weeks & Doctor's Appt.

We hit the 25 week mark today!  Hard to believe!  Time is flying so fast... We had our doctor's appointment today (Kevin is out of town Thursday, so we moved it up).  I weighed in at a whopping 109.8!  My nurse and my doctor's response was they are so so proud of me (I felt so special!  Who would have thought GAINING weight would be so exciting?!).  Kevin's response "WHOA!"  And my response to his "WATCH IT Buddy!"  Ha!  So that's almost 14lbs of weight gain!  I really am quite proud of myself... never thought I could do it (although, I spend most of my time eating these days, so it makes sense). The nurse said I "look cute, am starting to show and have that pregnancy waddle."  Considering I did not feel like I was waddling (sometimes I have to because my tailbone hurts so bad) I was not exactly thrilled about this comment, lol!  I asked Kevin if there is something he is forgetting to tell me... ha! The doctor measured my...
