Baby's First Photo

Baby Fagundes had his/her first photo today...

We had an ultrasound to date the pregnancy.  I am 8 weeks, just as we suspected (I told that nurse she was a couple of days off!).  Baby Fagundes' heart was just beating away, which was a huge relief for Mommy & Daddy.  Daddy found the heart beat right away so he must have been secretly worried about this (mommy was trying to see through her tears and calm herself from excitement).

Today was also the first time we met our doctor.  Kevin and I both really like him.  Very personable, knowledgeable and spent lots of time with us, making me feel like I was the only patient he had in the office!  Once again, the staff was wonderful and our wait time was less than a couple of minutes!  Overall, we are very pleased with our choice of doctor's office.

Doctor said all looks well, with the exception of what he says is just a little bit of blood showing in the ultrasound, outside of the uterus.  He says since I have not been spotting, I likely will, which will clear that all up.  He did not seemed too concerned, although I was.  I am just praying (and ask that you join me) in hopes that it is nothing serious.

We talked about my hypoglycemia.  The doctor said sugars are usually higher during pregnancy, so I will likely not have to battle this problem as much as I usually do.  He was more concerned that I would develop diabetes (in other words, go the complete opposite direction) so he said we will continue to screen for that throughout the pregnancy.

Our next appt. is December 17th.  We were told to expect a phone call from the Perinatalogist sometime soon, who will set us up with an appt. to screen for Down's Syndrome and Trisomy 18 (to be completed during the 11-14 week time span).  With the exception of a few other medically necessary tests, that was pretty much it for the day.  In and out of there in forty minutes!

Thank you for ongoing love and support.  I do believe the comment problem has been fixed (guess we'll see) so, please feel free to comment if you'd like!  Also, we would love it if you could continue to pray for the well being of our little miracle.  Your thoughts and prayers mean so much to us right now!

Therapy...

Not being silent about our loss is looking to be the best therapy for me during this difficult time. Through Facebook I've had countless friends reach out to me and share their stories of loss. Although it doesn't make me feel better, as we're talking about too many babies in heaven, it does make me feel less alone. So I was diagnosed w/ blighted ovum. Meaning the gestational sac and placenta was growing inside of me (the ultrasound showed it was indeed around 7 weeks along) but the baby stopped developing and was reabsorbed into my uterus. Problem is, the placenta is responsible for pregnancy symptoms, so my body still thinks it is pregnant, but there is no longer a baby or embryo. So, until I actually miscarry the tissue, I will feel pregnant. I don't know how to explain how I've been feeling the past few weeks. At first I thought it was just my uneasy feelings of this pregnancy being "unplanned" and so close to my previous pregnancy. It took me a wh...

25 Weeks & Doctor's Appt.

We hit the 25 week mark today!  Hard to believe!  Time is flying so fast... We had our doctor's appointment today (Kevin is out of town Thursday, so we moved it up).  I weighed in at a whopping 109.8!  My nurse and my doctor's response was they are so so proud of me (I felt so special!  Who would have thought GAINING weight would be so exciting?!).  Kevin's response "WHOA!"  And my response to his "WATCH IT Buddy!"  Ha!  So that's almost 14lbs of weight gain!  I really am quite proud of myself... never thought I could do it (although, I spend most of my time eating these days, so it makes sense). The nurse said I "look cute, am starting to show and have that pregnancy waddle."  Considering I did not feel like I was waddling (sometimes I have to because my tailbone hurts so bad) I was not exactly thrilled about this comment, lol!  I asked Kevin if there is something he is forgetting to tell me... ha! The doctor measured my...
