Rounding Third... Already?!

26 weeks, 5 days pregnant
Kevin really gets a kick out of seeing the baby move!

So we're now 27 weeks and 2 days into this journey and looking forward to the third trimester!  All is well--Baby F is kicking, jabbing, somersaulting and resting.  His schedule right now is wonderful (he goes to sleep between 10-11pm (whenever mommy finally slows down), sleeps through the night and wakes around 7:30am.  I doubt it will last, but it's sort of nice right now (allows mommy some rest time--occasionally we even nap in the afternoon!).  Although the mid-day breaks are becoming less common as time goes on--most afternoons our little guy is very active!

Mommy is doing really well.  I'm getting used to the back ache and tail bone pain (or perhaps I am choosing to ignore it).  I notice it more when I need to switch positions on the couch or while sleeping. I do get swollen toes, feet and ankles when I've been on my feet too long.  I feel like I am constantly hungry and am amazed I actually make it through the night without food!  Of course I am craving anything that is bad for me--especially sweets!  But, I also love cereal with fresh strawberries and anything fruity in general.

The doctor called with my test results on Monday.  I passed my glucose screening but am low on iron.  I am now on an iron supplement to remedy the problem.  I finally feel like I am back to my old self--my energy is back and I actually care about keeping the house tidy & organized again.  It feels great to be back (even if Kevin thinks I am a bit of a maniac and need to slow down).  I'm using my new found energy in the nursery (I went shopping today!).  I had tons of fun and think it is turning out great (it has lots of spunk and color now!).  Hopefully we will get some photos up soon!

Daddy to be is getting anxious to meet his son but reminds him every night to "stay put" and "be nice to mom".  Daddy enjoys talking to Baby F and playing him rock, country and classical music.  We also put Baby F to sleep every night with a lullaby (which seems to be working).  I read somewhere that using their mobile while in the womb will help in comforting them outside of the womb because it's a familiar sound, so we've been playing that lullaby religiously.

I think the dogs are suspicious!  Bruiser has noticed some kicks/jabs when laying on my tummy.  He just looks at and smells or gently prods my tummy with his nose, then gives me the most confused face.  He also checks the bassinet in our room nightly and also attempts to see into the crib when the door to the nursery is left open.  I am positive he had a baby with his previous family and is now looking for our little addition.  Poor little fur baby--he is confused!  I lift him up and tell him "no baby yet".  Porky has become more clingy and cuddly lately (he's usually not BIG on cuddling).  So I assume his brother has relayed signals to him about the future!  I've also made a habit of playing some samples of baby noises (crying, giggling, cooing, talking, tantrums, etc.).  They don't really seem to mind the sound so I think it's time to add a doll or stuffed animal to the mix.  We'll see how that goes...

We're still debating on names.  Nothing really jumps out at me.  So far, Kevin is still stuck on Aeson and Levi.  He also likes Kannan and Vaughn.  I still like Levi (but not the nickname Lee), Kohen, Eason, and Vaughn has even snuck back in there.  I've even tossed around Chandan, but Kevin is not a fan!  Unfortunately neither one of us is totally committed to any of these names which makes me wonder if we truly like them or not?  This is one tough decision--you're solely responsible for naming another human being something they will carry for the rest of their lives.  So I want honest opinions here--what do you think of our names list?  Tell me the first thought that crossed your mind.  The last thing I want to do is name my son something he will be made fun of for because we did not anticipate a nickname or funny joke.

The other night we also discussed girl names just in case we end up with a surprise.  Oddly enough we agreed on two of them immediately which is so funny to me considering our problems with a boy's name (I wonder if it's because we both really feel/know it's a boy?!).  Anyways, Kevin likes Adalyn and I like Adaira (which means beauty) and we both agree it could go either way and we'd be happy.  I also like Shandon, but having a Shannah and a Shandon may be too much.  I love the name Ava, but that is crawling up there in popularity.  We like not-so common names, but nothing too out there.  I just don't want my son (or daughter) to be in a class where there are 3 kids with his/her name!

So your opinions and thoughts are appreciated (and we're still open to suggestions!). Hopefully we'll get some updated nursery photos on here soon.  I leave you with photos from our 26 week, 5 day session.  We went out to the wildflowers off the 58 past Santa Margarita.  Our photographer is still "in training" and is using us to learn/experiment so I warn you--we are squinting in most of the photos, but I think they turned out okay.  Hope you agree!

Oh my goodness honey you're just beautiful. He's truly growing like a little weed, and it won't be long now. I know you both must be excited since Grandma/Grandpa S. can hardly wait.

As far as names, you'll know it when you hear it so don't put too much pressure on yourselves. As everyone knows, my vote is for "Vaughn". To me it sounds worldly, noble, strong and wise which is what I assume "Baby F" will be with such great parents, and I think he'd carry that name well.

That's my two cents anyway (lol)

Wow Mom you commented for the first time! Very exciting. If I would have known you didn't realize you could do that I would have told ya! Oops! Well it's good to hear your feedback! Hope we hear from you a lot more!

Great pictures! Love the background!!

I completely agree with your mom; you'll know the name when you hear it. This happened to us too. I was looking back at my posts around the same time and we were in the same spot. We tossed the lists aside and just waited and one day we just knew! He'll tell you soon.

Therapy...

Not being silent about our loss is looking to be the best therapy for me during this difficult time. Through Facebook I've had countless friends reach out to me and share their stories of loss. Although it doesn't make me feel better, as we're talking about too many babies in heaven, it does make me feel less alone. So I was diagnosed w/ blighted ovum. Meaning the gestational sac and placenta was growing inside of me (the ultrasound showed it was indeed around 7 weeks along) but the baby stopped developing and was reabsorbed into my uterus. Problem is, the placenta is responsible for pregnancy symptoms, so my body still thinks it is pregnant, but there is no longer a baby or embryo. So, until I actually miscarry the tissue, I will feel pregnant. I don't know how to explain how I've been feeling the past few weeks. At first I thought it was just my uneasy feelings of this pregnancy being "unplanned" and so close to my previous pregnancy. It took me a wh...

25 Weeks & Doctor's Appt.

We hit the 25 week mark today!  Hard to believe!  Time is flying so fast... We had our doctor's appointment today (Kevin is out of town Thursday, so we moved it up).  I weighed in at a whopping 109.8!  My nurse and my doctor's response was they are so so proud of me (I felt so special!  Who would have thought GAINING weight would be so exciting?!).  Kevin's response "WHOA!"  And my response to his "WATCH IT Buddy!"  Ha!  So that's almost 14lbs of weight gain!  I really am quite proud of myself... never thought I could do it (although, I spend most of my time eating these days, so it makes sense). The nurse said I "look cute, am starting to show and have that pregnancy waddle."  Considering I did not feel like I was waddling (sometimes I have to because my tailbone hurts so bad) I was not exactly thrilled about this comment, lol!  I asked Kevin if there is something he is forgetting to tell me... ha! The doctor measured my...
