Liam you are half a year old today. How did we get here? I am starting to truly understand why people say to slow down and enjoy it. Time really is flying by! Your a really neat little boy Liam and you get neater, sweeter and do more everyday. You are quite a blessing.

You wear 3-6 month clothes and we've started putting you in some 6 month onesies (there a bit big, but you're not swimming in them). Your pants are still fitting pretty well at the 3-6 month size (yesterday we had you in some 0-3 months, but mama thinks those days are just about over--they fit your legs, but I am worried we're squishing your tummy!).

You wear size 2 diapers (and a size 2 doubled up with a size 3 at night--you pee quite a bit and soak through if we don't double diaper at night).

Mommy and Daddy did these measurements so they are approximate (although we purchased an infant scale, so the weight should be pretty accurate). Your our little guy, but boy are you mighty. Here's what you're up to:

Per Baby Center, skills you should have mastered by now:
• Turns toward sounds and voices--you have done this and still do. You are very, very curious and inquisitive.
• Imitates sounds--you love playing this game with Mommy and Daddy (more so with your Daddy, he's sillier than mommy I guess!). This weekend mommy was making noises with her tongue and you were copying her. Very, very cute!
• Rolls over in both directions-you are able to roll from tummy to back and back to tummy no problem. You roll from tummy to back every morning and then cry for us to come get you (but I will say you have started to play and entertain yourself anywhere from 5-20 min. before crying out for us. And sometimes we just give you a toy or turn on your mobile and you will play another 10-20 min. or so). You also roll around on the floor sometimes during play time.

Per BabyCenter, skills that may be emerging:
• Is ready for solid foods--you were ready for solid foods a LONG time ago! So far you've tried rice cereal, oatmeal, sweet potatoes, avocado and butternut squash (in that order). Only thing you haven't been a fan of is avocado. We are thinking about trying peas or bananas this week. You LOVE eating!
• Sits without support--you have mastered sitting up. You do take an occasional spill from time to time, but usually only if curiosity gets the best of you (for some reason you haven't figured out yet that you're NOT an owl and therefore cannot turn your head completely around!) You topple over a lot when you try looking around.
• Mouths objects--ha! you've been mouthing objects for months (we think you started teething a long time ago). We're seeing little buds in there, I would not be surprised if we see teeth/a tooth break through soon!
• Passes objects from hand to hand--I watch you do this more so when you're laying on your back. I think when you sit up you're more focused on the sitting part, so we don't see you do this one as much then.

Per BabyCenter, advanced skills that some babies can do:
• Lunges forward or starts crawling--trying to crawl (you can do a complete circle and can actually make forward progress if we give you something to push off of). You've also started doing an up on all fours stance (like a push up) over the weekend. Looks like another step in the crawling endeavor!
• Jabbers or combines syllables--you've been jabbering for about a month now. You're not yet combining syllables, but we work with you on Dada and Mama daily!
• Drags objects toward himself--your Daddy was just commenting about this last week. When your toys are just out of reach you'll scoot until you can get a finger or two on them and drag it toward yourself. Most of the time you're pretty successful at it too.

Other things you're doing:
-Still spitting/blowing raspberries. BOY what a wet mess, but you love it!
-You let us read to you now and actually watch and enjoy it. You love opening the books and turning pages. Lately you're very interested in the cover of the book (and gumming it).
-You are so ticklish. Your back, your neck and your legs are your best tickle spots. You just laugh and laugh. We LOVE tickling you.
-You can nap with or without mommy (I'm sure you've been able to for quite some time, but I hate letting you go).
-You can play independently now for quite some time before you become restless. Wow, mama remembers the days I couldn't put you down for even a second!
-You LOVE watching music videos and dancing around with daddy. When he helps you stand while music is on you bounce and wiggle. You're quite the dancer!
-Mommy and Daddy's glasses are no longer safe around you (and neither is mama's hair). When you get a hold of something, it's difficult to get it back! OUCH!
-You LOVE your dogs. You love to be licked and even "yell" at them to play with you when you see them resting on the couch or floor. We're still working on petting vs. yanking out huge chunks of hair (again-OUCH!).
-You love standing with support. You'll even lunge forward from the sitting position toward someone and hold on to them for dear life just so you can stand. Your a wild little man!
-You love playing with your feet, stretching your socks and recently started putting your toes in your mouth. It sure is difficult to pry your feet out of your hands for diaper changes, but it's so cute!
-You pretty much sleep through the night. Most nights we have to go in 1-3x and pat your back while you fart (that gas irritates you) but mama has read that's normal while your digestive system adjusts to solids. When you don't have gas or your gum's are not bothering you, you sleep just fine.
-Your bed time is 8/8:30pm and you wake between 6:30-7:30am. We NEVER take you out of your crib until 7am. That's usually when our day starts and you're pretty happy with that!

YOU are the light of our lives, Liam David.
HAPPY HALF OF A YEAR!

Therapy...

Not being silent about our loss is looking to be the best therapy for me during this difficult time. Through Facebook I've had countless friends reach out to me and share their stories of loss. Although it doesn't make me feel better, as we're talking about too many babies in heaven, it does make me feel less alone. So I was diagnosed w/ blighted ovum. Meaning the gestational sac and placenta was growing inside of me (the ultrasound showed it was indeed around 7 weeks along) but the baby stopped developing and was reabsorbed into my uterus. Problem is, the placenta is responsible for pregnancy symptoms, so my body still thinks it is pregnant, but there is no longer a baby or embryo. So, until I actually miscarry the tissue, I will feel pregnant. I don't know how to explain how I've been feeling the past few weeks. At first I thought it was just my uneasy feelings of this pregnancy being "unplanned" and so close to my previous pregnancy. It took me a wh...

25 Weeks & Doctor's Appt.

We hit the 25 week mark today!  Hard to believe!  Time is flying so fast... We had our doctor's appointment today (Kevin is out of town Thursday, so we moved it up).  I weighed in at a whopping 109.8!  My nurse and my doctor's response was they are so so proud of me (I felt so special!  Who would have thought GAINING weight would be so exciting?!).  Kevin's response "WHOA!"  And my response to his "WATCH IT Buddy!"  Ha!  So that's almost 14lbs of weight gain!  I really am quite proud of myself... never thought I could do it (although, I spend most of my time eating these days, so it makes sense). The nurse said I "look cute, am starting to show and have that pregnancy waddle."  Considering I did not feel like I was waddling (sometimes I have to because my tailbone hurts so bad) I was not exactly thrilled about this comment, lol!  I asked Kevin if there is something he is forgetting to tell me... ha! The doctor measured my...
