Trick or Treat?

Liam would like to share his Halloween card with everyone...
...

That's right! We're having a baby!!!!! (Lord willing). We're 6 weeks along (as of tomorrow) and sharing our news after promising results on my blood work (last pregnancy, my blood work was through the roof, thus explaining why I was so ill and indicated a non-viable pregnancy, which the ultrasound also proved). This time around, my blood work went from 1279 (5 weeks, 1 day) to 1918 (5 weeks, 3 days) in a 46 hour period. The doctor said that indicates that as of now, everything is "firing as normal".

After my blood work, the doctor said he would request another sample in a couple weeks and possibly an early ultrasound, but later decided since the blood work looked good and considering I don't have a history of miscarriage (since I had to have a D&C) that it would not be necessary.

I had a little "chat" with my friend Kristin, who knows me well (we're a lot alike, I think). She reminded me that my blog is a great therapy for me and this news is meant for sharing! So, the cat is out of the bag!

We found out on Friday, October 7th with a very faint positive pregnancy test (Kevin thought I was "imagining something I really wanted!). Late Friday night/early Saturday morning, another faint positive. I retested Saturday morning, the line was a bit darker and by Sunday night, there was no mistaking it! Definitely pregnant!

We're due June 20th (exactly one week after Liam's 2nd Birthday). Anyone who has been close to the situation, knows that I've said for months now that our next baby would be due in June (which is one of the many reasons why the pregnancy a few months ago just felt wrong from the get go). I'm feeling confident this time and NOT SICK! I'm tired, but was tired when I was pregnant with Liam, so that's pretty normal I think!

My appt. is Nov 17th (9 weeks, 1 day). We're praying we find a nice steady heartbeat and see a baby in there. We're hoping you'll join us in prayer (the more, the better!). I'm sure I will be sharing lots of thoughts and feelings over the next few weeks, you guys will be my cheerleaders and support system (hey--you all were so great with our loss--I think this is the appropriate place for me to "vent" or "relate"). Besides, I don't want Baby #3 to miss a thing along the journey of creating him/her (I say boy by the way!) and I NEVER want to forget how I felt during this time (excited, worried, vulnerable). I NEVER want to forget how precious life is.

Baby #3, daddy and I are SO EXCITED (big brother is too, we're sure, it's just he doesn't entirely understand yet!). You've been wished for and you have a lot of people praying for you. Stick lil' bean, stick! We love you so very much! Hope to see you in a few weeks!

Woohoo! We are going for a girl - eventhough you think it's a boy! Someone needs to get our hand-me-downs :)

Seriously though, we'll take either a niece or nephew. Can't wait!

Keep us posted.

Awww! Sorry Michelle, but I'm pretty positive this one will be a boy! Gut feeling.

Save the girlie hand me downs for your next one. You have a 50/50 chance!

Thanks, we're super excited too. Cross fingers for a baby with a steady heartbeat on the 17th!

Therapy...

Not being silent about our loss is looking to be the best therapy for me during this difficult time. Through Facebook I've had countless friends reach out to me and share their stories of loss. Although it doesn't make me feel better, as we're talking about too many babies in heaven, it does make me feel less alone. So I was diagnosed w/ blighted ovum. Meaning the gestational sac and placenta was growing inside of me (the ultrasound showed it was indeed around 7 weeks along) but the baby stopped developing and was reabsorbed into my uterus. Problem is, the placenta is responsible for pregnancy symptoms, so my body still thinks it is pregnant, but there is no longer a baby or embryo. So, until I actually miscarry the tissue, I will feel pregnant. I don't know how to explain how I've been feeling the past few weeks. At first I thought it was just my uneasy feelings of this pregnancy being "unplanned" and so close to my previous pregnancy. It took me a wh...

25 Weeks & Doctor's Appt.

We hit the 25 week mark today!  Hard to believe!  Time is flying so fast... We had our doctor's appointment today (Kevin is out of town Thursday, so we moved it up).  I weighed in at a whopping 109.8!  My nurse and my doctor's response was they are so so proud of me (I felt so special!  Who would have thought GAINING weight would be so exciting?!).  Kevin's response "WHOA!"  And my response to his "WATCH IT Buddy!"  Ha!  So that's almost 14lbs of weight gain!  I really am quite proud of myself... never thought I could do it (although, I spend most of my time eating these days, so it makes sense). The nurse said I "look cute, am starting to show and have that pregnancy waddle."  Considering I did not feel like I was waddling (sometimes I have to because my tailbone hurts so bad) I was not exactly thrilled about this comment, lol!  I asked Kevin if there is something he is forgetting to tell me... ha! The doctor measured my...
