21 months & St. Patty's Day!

Last Tuesday (March 13, 2012) this Mr. Handsome turned 21 months old. At 21 months, Liam is:

-Enjoying helping around the house (he picks up when asked, throws garbage away, puts the dog bowls away, puts away his milk cup in refrigerator, finds his sippy cup when we're on our way out and does other odds/ends when asked!).

-Can wash & dry his hands with little assistance

-Love babies & his baby doll. He mostly just feeds them a bottle (and pretends to drink from it every now and then). He's so loving, caring & thoughtful!

-He can take off his socks and pants, we've yet to see him take off his shirt. He's also been experimenting with taking off his diaper. If this becomes a habit, we'll think about potty training (he's not really that interested in the potty, although today he's been following us to the bathroom).

-He is talking a lot more. He repeats us randomly (oops! better be careful what we say). He can sing his ABC's with some prompting and has recently learned his #'s 1-10. He can even name the next number or letter in a sequence sometimes.

-Tonight he showed off his ball throwing skills, but more importantly, Liam can catch a ball! He was so enthusiastic and proud of himself (& we were pretty impressed too!).

-Dada's favorite, he gives knuckles when prompted!

-He is a climber. He climbs up the barstools and into his chair to eat.

-He'll bring you the tv remote when he wants to watch tv. And shout at you until you figure out what it is he wants to watch (usually Chuggington or Thomas the Train--YES! he's still obsessed with trains!).

Right after turning 21 months, Liam started waking in the middle of the night (he does this every now & then) but lately, he doesn't settle down and he's literally screaming, not whining! Last night was by far the worst. Kevin tried to calm him, then I did, then we tried laying him in our bed (thinking he's having night terrors) and that turned into play time, so after an hour of trying to get him to go to sleep, we returned him to his bed, where he screamed for about ten minutes before falling asleep. We had tried it all and have no idea what is causing this! We've looked it up, sleep regression is common at this age, as are night terrors (especially due to time change). We're hoping this is a temporary stage & we'll progress right through it (sooner, rather than later!).

Yesterday, Liam got his second haircut (Kevin says it's his first official haircut, since I actually let them cut it more than a 1/4").
Doesn't he look like such a big boy?
No more curls :(

This morning, we did crafts for St. Patrick's Day. Liam really enjoys coloring (scribbling) and gluing. Maybe he'll be crafty like mama!

Happy St. Patty's!

Not sure if it's the lack of sleep or the onset of terrible two's but this is the usual Liam look and attitude we've been getting the past week or so. I want my sweet, un-grouchy boy back!

Liam's art projects! He really enjoyed gluing sticks everywhere & adding buttons upon buttons
After nap time, he helped us make shamrock cookies. We counted out all 24!

YUM!

HAPPY 21st month Liam & a Happy St. Patty's Day to All!

Therapy...

Not being silent about our loss is looking to be the best therapy for me during this difficult time. Through Facebook I've had countless friends reach out to me and share their stories of loss. Although it doesn't make me feel better, as we're talking about too many babies in heaven, it does make me feel less alone. So I was diagnosed w/ blighted ovum. Meaning the gestational sac and placenta was growing inside of me (the ultrasound showed it was indeed around 7 weeks along) but the baby stopped developing and was reabsorbed into my uterus. Problem is, the placenta is responsible for pregnancy symptoms, so my body still thinks it is pregnant, but there is no longer a baby or embryo. So, until I actually miscarry the tissue, I will feel pregnant. I don't know how to explain how I've been feeling the past few weeks. At first I thought it was just my uneasy feelings of this pregnancy being "unplanned" and so close to my previous pregnancy. It took me a wh...

25 Weeks & Doctor's Appt.

We hit the 25 week mark today!  Hard to believe!  Time is flying so fast... We had our doctor's appointment today (Kevin is out of town Thursday, so we moved it up).  I weighed in at a whopping 109.8!  My nurse and my doctor's response was they are so so proud of me (I felt so special!  Who would have thought GAINING weight would be so exciting?!).  Kevin's response "WHOA!"  And my response to his "WATCH IT Buddy!"  Ha!  So that's almost 14lbs of weight gain!  I really am quite proud of myself... never thought I could do it (although, I spend most of my time eating these days, so it makes sense). The nurse said I "look cute, am starting to show and have that pregnancy waddle."  Considering I did not feel like I was waddling (sometimes I have to because my tailbone hurts so bad) I was not exactly thrilled about this comment, lol!  I asked Kevin if there is something he is forgetting to tell me... ha! The doctor measured my...
