Liam's REAL Birthday!

So the last post was for Liam's birthday party, we celebrated the weekend before his actual birthday. On June 13th, Kevin took the day off to celebrate our big boy's birthday! When Liam woke up, we headed in with his gifts!

The night before we asked Liam what he wanted to do for his birthday. He said "cows" over and over again. The following morning he was talking about cows and horses. So we headed out to Avila Barn and the Atascadero Zoo for the day!

We had so much fun at Avila Barn. Liam ran from animal to animal just talking and smiling. He loved feeding the goats. He was so timid about getting on the tractor when it came driving up, but loved that experience. Berry picking was so fun & shockingly we found out Liam likes berries! Yum! It was such a fun afternoon!

Then, it was off to the zoo!

Liam was OBSESSED with the meerkats (or "cats" as he called them!).

He just kept running back to the meerkats!

At the end of the day, we were all so exhausted. We ran a quick errand at Target & stopped at Olive Garden for dinner! After dinner, Liam passed out for the ride home! And we couldn't blame him.

After returning home, we checked Sprout to see Liam's birthday go across the screen! Perfect end to a perfectly fun day!

Liam did go to his 2 year check up at the doctor the day before. His stats were:
33'' tall (36th percentile)
25 lbs (16th percentile)
75 percentile head (I didn't get the measurement!).
Size 4 diapers still
And we just increased to a size 6 shoe! YAY!
He wears 18mo pants still (although one pair of 2t's fit if I roll the waist once) & 2t/24mo shirts

Doctor said he is growing (slowly) and is probably just petite in nature (based on mama's build). I told her Liam is a VERY picky eater, so she recommended no more snacks and then he'll come to the table hungry. We've already cut back on milk (he gets that first thing in the morning and before bed at night only). So we've tried this. It somewhat works. He still only picks at what he wants (I do offer him a variety to choose from, as per doc's orders!). He's just a finnicky eater!

As far as potty training goes, she said follow his cues. She said he may not be ready because he doesn't tell us when he's wet (only when he has gone poop). She also explained that since Liam has an awful lot of changes coming his way (a move to Hanford, a move to Hawaii, etc.) so he can and probably will suffer from some set backs. She said we are better off settling in Hawaii and then starting the potty training if he hasn't showed interest by then. So, we're just going to wait until Liam decides he's ready or approach it when we settle at the beginning of next year!

For now, we'll be thankful for our healthy, handsome, sweet, growing & smart lil' man and focus our efforts on spending these next few weeks together, since Kevin will be leaving us in August for a few months! That sounds like a good plan ;)

Therapy...

Not being silent about our loss is looking to be the best therapy for me during this difficult time. Through Facebook I've had countless friends reach out to me and share their stories of loss. Although it doesn't make me feel better, as we're talking about too many babies in heaven, it does make me feel less alone. So I was diagnosed w/ blighted ovum. Meaning the gestational sac and placenta was growing inside of me (the ultrasound showed it was indeed around 7 weeks along) but the baby stopped developing and was reabsorbed into my uterus. Problem is, the placenta is responsible for pregnancy symptoms, so my body still thinks it is pregnant, but there is no longer a baby or embryo. So, until I actually miscarry the tissue, I will feel pregnant. I don't know how to explain how I've been feeling the past few weeks. At first I thought it was just my uneasy feelings of this pregnancy being "unplanned" and so close to my previous pregnancy. It took me a wh...

25 Weeks & Doctor's Appt.

We hit the 25 week mark today!  Hard to believe!  Time is flying so fast... We had our doctor's appointment today (Kevin is out of town Thursday, so we moved it up).  I weighed in at a whopping 109.8!  My nurse and my doctor's response was they are so so proud of me (I felt so special!  Who would have thought GAINING weight would be so exciting?!).  Kevin's response "WHOA!"  And my response to his "WATCH IT Buddy!"  Ha!  So that's almost 14lbs of weight gain!  I really am quite proud of myself... never thought I could do it (although, I spend most of my time eating these days, so it makes sense). The nurse said I "look cute, am starting to show and have that pregnancy waddle."  Considering I did not feel like I was waddling (sometimes I have to because my tailbone hurts so bad) I was not exactly thrilled about this comment, lol!  I asked Kevin if there is something he is forgetting to tell me... ha! The doctor measured my...
