Update/Lorelei is 10 months old!

On September 26th Lo took her first steps (of her own accord). She was finally confident enough to try it! She still prefers crawling to get her places but she can walk if & when she wants to.
Her vocabulary is also growing.  She's added "elbay" for elbow (Thanks to Liam's daily repeat of "owww my elboooow" from the movie Epic). She knows who "mama" and "dada" are now and directs those words appropriately.  She's started with "bubb" which I think is brother.  She growls at Liam and he growls back (or vice versa). She says "hi" and will wave hi and bye bye on command. She says "a dah" when she sees one of our dogs.
Speaking of fur kids,  sadly on Sept 9th we lost our beloved Porky, who fought a serious ailment for many days. Apparently he had horrible pancreatitis (we are thinking perhaps all his life) & no matter what treatments we tried, it was just too painful of a fight for him.  Rip Porky.
Two weeks later a dog came across fb in need of a home.  I felt really compelled to adopt her, even though I had previously decided no more dogs due to the heart ache I just experienced with po. But I couldn't get this dog out of my mind. Lady joined our family on sept 22nd. Long story short I now know why po lead me to her.  We discovered a week after adopting Lady that she is blind in one eye due to glaucoma and will likely require surgery to remove that eye and possibly lose sight in both eyes one day.  I felt so guilty not knowing that po had a serious condition I never knew about. I guess he wanted me to redeem myself with Lady, who is now diagnosed.  Now to raise funds for her surgery (that's another post).
Anyhow, Lorelei seems to have had a growth spurt. One day she just woke looking bigger.  And her personality is really starting to come through.  She is a sweetie with a tough, rascal side.  Already fighting with her brother over toys and holding her own.  And throws tantrums when we tell her "no" or take something away or move her from something dangerous. She even fights me on getting in the car seat at times.  Much more of a Handful than her brother was (& that's saying a lot cause he was/is a stinker!).
Liam is growing like a weed also.  He's doing well at school & is so loved by his teacher's and peers. He is growing up way too fast. He's constantly asking "why" and exploring the world of "what ifs." He has conversations with us that are sometimes over our heads. We often ask one another "how the heck does he know that?" Yesterday it was "mom who made Hawaii?" To which kevin replied "volcanoes" and Liam replied "what? When it erupted & left lava and it burned into a mountain?" Not entirely correct but for a 3 year old we are consistently impressed with his critical thinking and intellectual capacity.  He's one amazing kid!
Despite missing Porky a ton, we're doing well.  Kev is spending almost every evening hitting the books for his online courses to get his bachelor's.  And I'm pretty lame and surviving the day to day and falling asleep on the couch by 9. Ha! In the middle of tired and crazy we have thrown in camping for the first time as a family, dinosaurs at the museum, walks, a Picnic, trip to the beach and some visits to the base movie theater! Always time for some fun fun!

Therapy...

Not being silent about our loss is looking to be the best therapy for me during this difficult time. Through Facebook I've had countless friends reach out to me and share their stories of loss. Although it doesn't make me feel better, as we're talking about too many babies in heaven, it does make me feel less alone. So I was diagnosed w/ blighted ovum. Meaning the gestational sac and placenta was growing inside of me (the ultrasound showed it was indeed around 7 weeks along) but the baby stopped developing and was reabsorbed into my uterus. Problem is, the placenta is responsible for pregnancy symptoms, so my body still thinks it is pregnant, but there is no longer a baby or embryo. So, until I actually miscarry the tissue, I will feel pregnant. I don't know how to explain how I've been feeling the past few weeks. At first I thought it was just my uneasy feelings of this pregnancy being "unplanned" and so close to my previous pregnancy. It took me a wh...

25 Weeks & Doctor's Appt.

We hit the 25 week mark today!  Hard to believe!  Time is flying so fast... We had our doctor's appointment today (Kevin is out of town Thursday, so we moved it up).  I weighed in at a whopping 109.8!  My nurse and my doctor's response was they are so so proud of me (I felt so special!  Who would have thought GAINING weight would be so exciting?!).  Kevin's response "WHOA!"  And my response to his "WATCH IT Buddy!"  Ha!  So that's almost 14lbs of weight gain!  I really am quite proud of myself... never thought I could do it (although, I spend most of my time eating these days, so it makes sense). The nurse said I "look cute, am starting to show and have that pregnancy waddle."  Considering I did not feel like I was waddling (sometimes I have to because my tailbone hurts so bad) I was not exactly thrilled about this comment, lol!  I asked Kevin if there is something he is forgetting to tell me... ha! The doctor measured my...
