10 Months

 Photobucket

Liam you are 10 months old today. Two more months before you turn one! Where on Earth has the time gone?! I honestly cannot believe it and truly understand why people say to enjoy it as it goes by so fast. Well I've did/do stop to enjoy it... but that doesn't help to slow time down and still leaves me wanting more time. We saw an itty bitty baby checking into medical the other day and I had to try really hard to remember you like that. I love how fun you are now, but sometimes I miss those days. Each milestone has it's own place in my heart.

In the past few days your little personality has started to come out even more. You love to laugh and make people laugh, you are starting to babble/talk a lot more and try to say words mama asks you to repeat (you've said dada, dog "dah", mama (in that order) and your most recent word was cat "kaa" which you said Monday while we were at the vet clinic on base). We've been trying to teach you grandma (both for Grammy who was visiting you this weekend and trying to get it out of you and for Ava whose birthday is today--HAPPY BIRTHDAY Ava!). This morning you said "g, g, g... mama"... you're so close!

You love taking hair brushes and trying to brush your hair with them. You talk with your hands sometimes (just like mama). You are EVERYWHERE and into everything. Now that we live in a single story, mama and daddy can watch you explore without worrying (and you love it). You are FAST and across a room in NO TIME! You love the toilet, toilet paper roll, chairs, your high chair, the couch and the sliding glass door/dog door. Only a matter of time before I find you in the backyard, I'm sure! This week you've shown that you can open the cabinets, so it is definitely time for daddy to add cabinet locks (baby proofing time--again!).

You are really in to feeding yourself now a days (with a spoon, with your hands, picking up and licking the bowl, etc.). You LOVE food, although you definitely have your favorites (sweet potato, yogurt, graham crackers, etc.) and food you will tolerate but don't love (quinoa, honeydew, cantaloupe, tomatoes). So far you haven't turned ANYTHING down. You'll eat it all, but we can tell by how long it takes you or how much of it we find in your bib/high chair what you loved and what you tolerated or hid. I am not allowed to eat without you joining the dogs to beg me for food... so I guess we're moving away from the all-organic diet and I am not allowed to eating any junk food around you! You drink from sippy cups with a straw and can do it yourself. You can use a regular sippy, but prefer the straws.

Changing your diaper is a CHORE. It's like wrestling a pig in the mud. We've tried the floor (you just roll over and crawl away) and strapping you to the changing table (works, but you get so mad and still try to roll). If I weren't worried about accidents on the carpet, some days I'd just give in. So I've started lathering you with diaper cream and having those battles when I smell you (poopy) or before naps/bed time. It just isn't worth the fight! I hate making my happy boy angry.

Babycenter.com says most 10 month olds have/will master the following:

-Waves goodbye. Funny, just yesterday I waved at you from across the room and you lifted your hand and waved back. The only other time you've waved was at Ava when we left her house a few months back. You do not yet wave bye-bye on command, but will mimic the gesture.
-Picks things up with pincer grasp. Been doing this for quite some time now (you mastered that with feeding yourself).
-Crawls well, with belly off the ground. Again you've been crawling for months now and you do it very well (too well). You're fast (sometimes too fast for yourself--you end up splattered out on the floor and lay your head down to "act" like you meant to do it. Too funny!).

Emerging skills:
-Says mama and dada to the correct person. As of April 1st, you started saying mama (dada was your first word which you started saying several weeks ago). Last week at the dinner table you looked at your dad and said "dada" then looked at mom and said "mama." You definitely know what those words mean now.

-Indicates wants with gestures. Yep! and grunts too. You'll point to your sippy cup and other items you want a and grunt until you get them. You're so demanding and it is too cute (right now).

Advanced skills:
-Stands alone for a couple of seconds. You are standing unassisted for a few seconds at a time and getting braver about taking a few steps every now and then when I reach out to you. You usually end up toppling over or stumbling into mama.
-Puts objects into a container. You're much better at taking objects out of containers and spreading them all over the floor-ha! But yes, you love putting balls and small objects into your toy box and bowl.

Now that the move is over (we still have things to hang up) I need to focus on making your invitations for your first birthday. I honestly cannot believe it is time to start prepping for your party--it is truly bittersweet. I am so proud of who you are and who you are becoming, but it is difficult letting go of my baby.

I need to weigh you/measure you, here are some 10 mo. stats:

Diapers: size 3
Clothes: 6-9 months
Weight: around 18lbs, 5oz
Height: I tried to measure (which was really difficult) I got 27'' (still)

Will measure on both of those and try to get a bit closer than an estimate (if I can catch you and convince you to sit still long enough). Wish me luck!

Oh... almost forgot (how could I?)... you are FINALLY getting a tooth. The razor sharp bottom tooth is almost completely surfaced. WOO HOO!

Therapy...

Not being silent about our loss is looking to be the best therapy for me during this difficult time. Through Facebook I've had countless friends reach out to me and share their stories of loss. Although it doesn't make me feel better, as we're talking about too many babies in heaven, it does make me feel less alone. So I was diagnosed w/ blighted ovum. Meaning the gestational sac and placenta was growing inside of me (the ultrasound showed it was indeed around 7 weeks along) but the baby stopped developing and was reabsorbed into my uterus. Problem is, the placenta is responsible for pregnancy symptoms, so my body still thinks it is pregnant, but there is no longer a baby or embryo. So, until I actually miscarry the tissue, I will feel pregnant. I don't know how to explain how I've been feeling the past few weeks. At first I thought it was just my uneasy feelings of this pregnancy being "unplanned" and so close to my previous pregnancy. It took me a wh...

25 Weeks & Doctor's Appt.

We hit the 25 week mark today!  Hard to believe!  Time is flying so fast... We had our doctor's appointment today (Kevin is out of town Thursday, so we moved it up).  I weighed in at a whopping 109.8!  My nurse and my doctor's response was they are so so proud of me (I felt so special!  Who would have thought GAINING weight would be so exciting?!).  Kevin's response "WHOA!"  And my response to his "WATCH IT Buddy!"  Ha!  So that's almost 14lbs of weight gain!  I really am quite proud of myself... never thought I could do it (although, I spend most of my time eating these days, so it makes sense). The nurse said I "look cute, am starting to show and have that pregnancy waddle."  Considering I did not feel like I was waddling (sometimes I have to because my tailbone hurts so bad) I was not exactly thrilled about this comment, lol!  I asked Kevin if there is something he is forgetting to tell me... ha! The doctor measured my...
