Liam is 15 months old today! My mind honestly isn't able to wrap itself around that number for some reason. I think I'm in denial. I look at Liam and just ponder how I let time slip away from me? Did I enjoy it all enough? Why are there so many "blurs" in there? (I hardly remember sleepless nights, or Liam as a teeny, bald needy baby). Am I the only one who can't remember it all?
Well, regardless of how I feel, the numbers do not lie. Liam is 15 months old and sweeter, busier and cuter every single day. He wears size 4 diapers, size 18 mo. shirts and 12 mo. shorts and 18 mo. pants. He takes one nap from about 1pm-3pm and sleeps from 8pm (ish) to 8am (ish).
He has 6 teeth (recap: lower central incisors, i.e. bottom two middle teeth @ 10 mo. old, upper central incisors i.e. top two middle teeth @ 12 mo. old, the upper lateral incisor on the right @ 13 mo. old and lower lateral incisor to the left @ 13 mo. old). And finally, the upper lateral incisor on the left is coming in! And we MAY have a molar coming in on the right side. This one must hurt pretty bad, as Liam has been fussy, a bit grumpy and somewhat clingy (Fri. morning he would not let me go, I tried to enjoy every min. of it, but we had music class to get ready for!).
Gymnastics has backfired on me! Liam is climbing EVERYTHING. He climbs his recliner in his room to play with the blinds (or ruin them) and look at birds out the window. Last night he climbed the toy box in his room to get the footballs that are attached to it. He even fell off of it once or twice and just made his normal sound effect "ugh", then jumped up and went on with his climbing! And he's climbing the ottoman between our couch and recliner to run across the couch over to the table with a lamp on it, so he can play with the cords that turn the lamp on. The other day he managed to tip the lamp, it fell back and put a nice large hole in the wall. Ohhh, Liam!
Swim lessons are going great! Liam isn't having any issues with us putting him under the water, although he won't do it himself (instructor says it's the sound it makes in their ears that bothers them!). During his last lesson, he learned to blow bubbles, which Kevin said he seemed to enjoy (mama was at home getting everything ready for our family reunion outing!).
Liam still doesn't talk much, but I'm told it is normal. He continues with the same words--dada and bad dog pretty regularly. Every once in a while he will say mama, but that's pretty much it for his vocabulary. He is starting to use his hands more to communicate, but it is not consistent. We get an "all done" sign or "more" sign every once in a while, but not sure if he even understands what they mean, as usually they are not given in the correct context or he gets mad if we put him down from his highchair after he signs all done. He has his own jibberish he speaks regularly and lots of sound effects (when he falls you get an "ugh" or "ehh" and when he sees any kind of animal you get "baa"). Funny kid! And shaking his head no seems to be the answer to EVERYTHING lately. Every once in a while you can encourage a nod (yes), but no is definitely the more favored response!
Liam LOVES playing ball! Give him anything that resembles a ball and it's immediately thrown (like the plum in the grocery store yesterday!). He has quite a good arm too. Sometimes he'll kick a ball, too. He loves to RUN and it's hilarious when his stubby legs really get going. Kevin and I can't help but laugh. He's also been walking backwards a lot. He gives you a mischievous face and then walks backwards slowly, then disappears from sight. Really funny to watch.
He LOVES playing with telephones and has his own wordy conversations with whomever is on the other line. Books are an all time fave... if you cannot find Liam, check his bedroom. 9/10 times you'll find him in there sitting on the floor, flipping the pages and jabbering away. Music makes him happy and lately his idea of dancing is mostly spinning circles, then stopping to clap. He LOVES when you do it with him!
Not sure if we're just getting used to them, but his temper tantrums seem less involved lately (or maybe it's because I choose to ignore it if he's not in danger of hurting himself!). He can use a spoon with ease and showed off his fork skills at dinner last night. He's almost got that skill down now! He's GREAT at brushing his own teeth and really enjoys when we get the toothbrush out (for now). Potty training is probably a few months off still, he thinks the potty we bought him is for squatting on (feet/ankles inside the potty hole and knees bent). It's hilarious to watch him get into position, then he gets stuck and gets so mad. He is so goofy!
Here's Liam COVERED in ice cream, kissing his fishy (he thought this up on his own, we just encouraged it to get it on video!)
Getting down tonight (literally!)
Not sure on weight or height. Will have to get those stats here asap! I'm going to call tomorrow, but I've been told the base doesn't do 15 mo. well baby checkups, so we may not have any official stats for another 3 months! We'll keep you posted... until then, watch this last video of Liam giggling and tell me it doesn't warm your heart?! If anything, it's a good note to start or end your day on!
Horsing around with mama tonight!

My crazy naked child driving his cozy coupe!
Smiling because he's 15 mo. old today (or because he's about to tackle me!)
So handsome!
My crazed child running wild!
This truly captures his essence!
And he's off!
Mama and Liam celebrating his 15 mo. birthday with pizza (dada's away for the night!)
He says "mmmm"....
and laughs!
