So I dropped Liam off at school this morning so kevin could go in early. We signed in and he washed his hands, which is all mom knows about the routine. When I asked Liam what he does next he answered "I don't know" and looked horribly timid and out of place. I gave him a book, gave kisses (both to me and sissy) and we said goodbye. He sat on the carpet and I backed off where he couldn't see me to watch. He was pretty quiet & reluctant to participate , although his teacher was in a meeting so I attributed it to the new face leading the class. So I left.
About an hour later I got a courtesy call that Liam had another bloody nose (one last week, one this week). When I got to the school at the end of the day, his teacher approached me about the bloody nose so I asked about him while he's at school. She said he is very happy and if he weren't she would tell me. She said the two subs she has had both told her how helpful he is & sweet. She told them, he's her favorite so they can't have him. I guess he's a huge help to the adults. Great to hear.
We discussed scribbles he sent home for his name last week. I told her he can write his name & I want him to continue. She said many of the kids can't so she thinks he may be trying to "fit in" by doing what they are doing. She said she moved him today (& trust me, major improving in his work!). She said she won't dumb things down for him & will be testing all the kids next week to figure out where they are at and what they need to work on. Good news because I was pretty upset about name scribbles.
Anyhow, fast forward to getting home and Liam tells me his teacher sang him an aloha song (he tried to sing some to me) and told me it means hello and goodbye. That's the first I've heard of him learning, so it was exciting to hear (I'm sure he learns something everyday but all I ever hear about is play time outside-the sandbox is his fave!).
I'm a pretty proud mama today (way to help Liam!) & hope he continues to grow & progress :)
