Liam turned 3 on 6/13/13. He's 30lbs of awesomeness! We really need to measure him, because they didn't do it at his 3 year check up. The doctor's appt. was all about getting him prepared for school, so they mostly did milestone/developmental markers. He passed or surpassed them all (he can jump over a paper, balance on one leg, tell stories, he can tell me which animal is what and the sound they make, identify body parts, he says more than 2-3 word sentences, he can draw a "straight" line, he doesn't babble, etc.).
I was surprised at the milestones, Liam seems a bit more advanced in numerous areas. 2-3 word sentences?! Liam says things that are above my head daily & uses a lot more words than that! We can't get him to shut up. He can write letters, tell you letter sounds, tell you the letters in his name, look at photographs in a book to remind him of the words, memorize books, put on/take off his underwear, pants and shoes. I'm not saying he's advanced but I'm wondering if perhaps I got the milestone markers for a two year old?! Or an older version?! Just seemed a little "easy" in my opinion.
We would like to thank everyone who made this little guy's day great. From decorations, to gifts, to love, phone calls, messages and just good company. We all felt/feel so loved and thankful for such great friendships and love from our family! Great friends, loving family... what more could he ask for?!
They did a vision check and said he has perfect vision, which I found weird because VAFB eye clinic said he has a bit of blurred vision. Maybe it improved? Guess time will tell on that.
For Liam's third birthday, he woke up to a TRAMPOLINE in the backyard. YAY! He was pretty excited about that. We did a Thomas the Train theme for his party (bet you weren't expecting that!). We hosted it outside the house at the playground and rented him a bounce house. A friend of mine went out of her way with decorations and building trains for Liam. Let me tell you... this is a VERY loved little guy. He is very blessed to have such loving friends around. It was a WONDERFUL day surrounded with great people! We ALL had a blast! And the party continued the remainder of the weekend because we had the bounce house Sat.-Mon. so Liam got to enjoy friends and fun for days :)
On his actual birthday he was just getting over a little cold, so we scratched our original idea of going to the water park. Instead, we took him out to donuts in his pj's. We came home, he played with some of his new toys and then dressed so we could take him to see his first movie in a theater (Epic). He did great (& so did sissy) and really enjoyed himself. In fact we all had a great time. Then he got to ride the mall train and ended his day with some glow in the dark mini golf. It was such a fun day!
And finally, Liam took the cash he was given for his birthday and picked out toys at Toys R Us. He got Thomas trains (shocking I know) and it took him less than 3 minutes to decide on everything he "needed" & he was exactly on budget! VERY quick shopper, daddy only wishes mommy could learn to shop that fast & accurately ;)

Liam, at 3 years old you are:
Sweet, funny & super intelligent- you're truly ahead of yourself by many years. You're very intellectual. You remember everything & always have something to offer to a conversation-whether that be a quirky comment or one completely over our heads. You're a character and love to make people laugh/smile.
You hate to eat- nothing has changed. Bfast is easy (you always want French toast sticks) but lunch and dinner are a chore. You are picky, finicky and spirited. Meals are challenging to say the least ;)
You love books, school and learning. You love your tricycle, watching movies, popcorn, mini pop tarts, milkshakes, Icee's, apple juice, French toast sticks, making friends, trains, cars, garbage trucks, fire trucks/ambulances, John deere's, diggers.
You love to help out. You're always willing to help with chores-pushing a vacuum, getting sissy a diaper or wipes, dusting, etc. I don't ask you to really do chores yet, but you always offer. You're a sweetie!
You love playing on the iPad, leap pad and mama's phone. You have a habit of getting on YouTube and watching Thomas train videos (mostly people playing with their Thomas train sets!).
You adore your sister and wish she were more durable ;)
You're a very good brother. You light up when you see your sister in the morning
and after school. It's soooo sweet! And you loooove holding her hand and kissing her. Warms my heart.
You're likable. People are drawn to you. You have a very appealing aura. And your smile touches my heart. You make people smile back at you (I love how squinty your eyes get!).
You know your abc's, numbers to 14, shapes, colors, letter sounds, you can write your name, you love to be read to & then you like to "read" the book back to us, you're more imaginative (you love being a monster) and come up with all sorts of creative "things" to be.
Your wild, spunky and have a zest for life. I admire your love of life and your easygoing, likable attitude. You're a happy go lucky kid & I hope to preserve that for a looooong time.
Lots and lots of love my sweet boy. Happy birthday!
Xoxoxo
