One Month Old!

I'm One Month Old!

Mommy & Daddy cannot believe it, but it is true! Where has the time gone?! You are so amazing, we are so grateful you chose us as your parents!

At one month you are weighing in at almost 8lbs (not an official weight--this is with mommy standing on the scale with you). We've measured your length at 20 inches. You've come a long way in a month (from 6lbs, 1 oz & 19 1/4 inches). You are officially out of all of your preemie clothes & diapers. You fit in most newborn outfits (some brands are a bit too big still) and you wear newborn diapers. You fit in some of your smaller 0-3 month clothes.

You are VERY happy in the mornings, not so happy in the afternoons and hit or miss in the evening. You LOVE your baths and your daddy (you are a completely different kid when daddy gets home from work!). You are sleeping at night anywhere from 3 1/2 to 6 hrs the first stretch (although, I think the 6 hrs may have been a fluke!) then 2-3 hrs the second stretch.

So far you've rolled from your tummy to your side and one side to the other (not all in one motion). You've been lifting your head since day 2, although it is becoming a lot more steady at this point. When put on your tummy you try to move/crawl (you've got the leg part down and you're making progress with your arms--we truly believe if you could just hold the weight of your head you'd be gone!).

You found your thumb the other day while mommy was running errands. Mommy looked down to check on you in your stroller and noticed you were sucking on your thumb. I think it may have been an accident, a few minutes later you struggled to find the same finger!

You've started to smile, but mostly in your sleep. Most afternoons/evenings you're fussy, so catching a smile during these times is really a treat! You track people and make eye contact. You track toys when moved in an arch and as far as you can see them (approx. 8-15 inches). You focus on objects and love to stare at everything around you. You take your pacifier out of your mouth, you grab hats on your head and pull them off and you hold your own toys for a few seconds.

In short, you're amazing!

Tomorrow we're on the way to the doctor. Mommy wants to have you checked just to make sure you're not suffering from any type of medical problems or colic (I'm worried about your piercing screams in the afternoon/early evening).

Here are some photos of you on your 1-month birthday (daddy's look alike).

Just like my dad!

I asked dad to recruit me, he said they don't have an 18 yr delayed entry program
I am excited to be 4 weeks old!

Getting tired of all the photos

I love laying on my tummy

I HATE hats!

Maybe we're making progress?! On your 1 month birthday mommy got you to nap twice (once for 2 hours and the other for an hour). Mommy hopes this means you were just going through a growth spurt the past week!
Nap 1

Nap 2

Here are some photos from the past few days:
Snoozing after eating (we call this Munk-milk drunk!)

Lounging on the boppy

Proof that you like your swing (for 5 minutes max!).

And a couple of videos. We put you down to let you practice "crawling" but you were unable to get any traction on the blanket and/or your pajamas were too big (or a little of both). We're noticing the best surface for you to "crawl" (resulting in less frustration for you) is in your play gym. Sorry baby, we'll try to cooperate in the future!

I cannot get the other video to post (blogger seems to be having some difficulties tonight). Will try again tomorrow...

Therapy...

Not being silent about our loss is looking to be the best therapy for me during this difficult time. Through Facebook I've had countless friends reach out to me and share their stories of loss. Although it doesn't make me feel better, as we're talking about too many babies in heaven, it does make me feel less alone. So I was diagnosed w/ blighted ovum. Meaning the gestational sac and placenta was growing inside of me (the ultrasound showed it was indeed around 7 weeks along) but the baby stopped developing and was reabsorbed into my uterus. Problem is, the placenta is responsible for pregnancy symptoms, so my body still thinks it is pregnant, but there is no longer a baby or embryo. So, until I actually miscarry the tissue, I will feel pregnant. I don't know how to explain how I've been feeling the past few weeks. At first I thought it was just my uneasy feelings of this pregnancy being "unplanned" and so close to my previous pregnancy. It took me a wh...

25 Weeks & Doctor's Appt.

We hit the 25 week mark today!  Hard to believe!  Time is flying so fast... We had our doctor's appointment today (Kevin is out of town Thursday, so we moved it up).  I weighed in at a whopping 109.8!  My nurse and my doctor's response was they are so so proud of me (I felt so special!  Who would have thought GAINING weight would be so exciting?!).  Kevin's response "WHOA!"  And my response to his "WATCH IT Buddy!"  Ha!  So that's almost 14lbs of weight gain!  I really am quite proud of myself... never thought I could do it (although, I spend most of my time eating these days, so it makes sense). The nurse said I "look cute, am starting to show and have that pregnancy waddle."  Considering I did not feel like I was waddling (sometimes I have to because my tailbone hurts so bad) I was not exactly thrilled about this comment, lol!  I asked Kevin if there is something he is forgetting to tell me... ha! The doctor measured my...
