Took lil' Liam to the pediatrician. He weighed in at 8lbs, 2 oz! MY GOODNESS! On the 30th of June he was 7lbs, 2 oz! 2 weeks later and he's gained another pound. In a month of life he has gained 2 lbs! WOW! The pediatrician joked that we'll have to put him on a diet soon.
Mommy scheduled this visit today. We're trying to get to the bottom of Liam's inconsolable fussiness. Poor baby! He's so uncomfortable he cannot nap during the day. Nights are fine, but I think that is due to a) exhaustion and b) he sleeps on an incline in his bassinet.
Anyways, after lots of questions for mommy, the pediatrician is not sure if Liam is having a reaction to something I am eating or if he has acid reflux. Last week the doctor advised me to quit eating dairy--that did not seem to work. So this week we're trying to eliminate my vitamin first, if that doesn't work then I'll eliminate vegetables and if that does not work then I'll eliminate fruits. If he still gets no relief, it's on to the next food group. If we can figure out the food group then we can try to narrow it down to the exact food(s). Process of elimination...hang in there Lil' Liam!
Mommy is keeping a diary of symptoms so the doctor can better diagnose Liam (half the symptoms I reported were acid reflux symptoms, half were gas reactions to foods I ate). In the meantime we're trying several tactics (after our appt. mommy drove to SLO which helped comfort Liam and gave him an opportunity to nap). He got this opportunity again later in the afternoon when we went to Santa Maria.
Also, mommy is carrying Liam in his carrier. I put it on and walk up/down our stairs 2-3 times and then he's out. I usually just carry him while I do tasks around the house or sit on the couch with him in the carrier for his entire nap. My goal is to eventually take him out of the carrier and transfer to the bouncy chair, play pen or bassinet after he falls asleep. I've been too scared to do it because I know how much he really needs his sleep (and I am enjoying the quiet).
Hopefully we find the culprit soon so poor Liam feels better. Until then, here are some photos from the past couple days!
