Wow! It's been a rough week. Upon returning from Hanford Liam became very fussy and inconsolable. He had a gas problem during our visit with Grammy & Papa so we assumed he was just gassy. We thought perhaps the bottles were giving him gas (daddy has been doing the night feedings with breast milk in a bottle). We've been giving him gas drops which usually keep him pretty content, but yesterday was a rough day. He refused to nap during the day and spent the majority of the day crying/fussing. I called the pediatrician who said it sounded like a bad case of gas, so I've been asked to slowly cut out different food groups from my diet until we find the culprit.
Today I thought all was better. He woke up in a much better mood and slept 6 hours for the first stretch last night and 3 hours after being fed and changed. He did not fight his naps as hard (I got him down after 30 minutes-1 hour of rocking) which is a long time, but he did not cry during the rocking (which is all he did the day before). I felt we were making progress, especially with it being our first day home alone together (daddy returned to work today). Liam went down for four naps which varied in length (30 minutes to a little over an hour). However, he's back to fussing again tonight. After daddy got home, we took him out on a walk which seemed to help, but he's back to fighting his sleep again as we speak. Daddy is trying to give me a break, but I think I'll have to intervene here soon.
We're not sure if he's going through a growth spurt or if there is something more severe going on?! I am starting to wonder if he has acid reflux?! We're trying to give the gas drops a go before calling the pediatrician back, but I may resort to that tonight. I cannot stand by and watch him suffer! Poor little guy!
I leave you with just a couple photos from week 3 (nobody wants to see photos of a crying baby and we've been so busy trying to console him we honestly have not been able to take many photos)...
And here's a video of Liam finding his mouth with his toy (he tried it a couple of times himself, mommy showed him how to do it once and this is what happened next):
Liam is definitely growing each and every day (in size, personality and developmentally). Okay, crying baby, must go!
