Happy Growing

Friday night Liam was extremely restless and Daddy was very tired (he put in a 16 hour day) so daddy moved Liam to his nursery and Mommy followed.  After calming Liam, mom got "cozy" on the floor.  I just could not leave my baby alone in his room!  He woke again once that night when he hit his head on a crib toy, with a little patting he went right back to sleep until 7:03am (he's like clockwork!).

Also, he was on his tummy and out of his swaddle when I got to him.  So I realized not only did he actually appreciate being in his room, he also told us he is done with swaddling AND is a tummy sleeper (we've been experimenting with tummy sleeping for naps since Wed./Thurs. but he was swaddled, as I could not get him to go down without a swaddle--and I KNOW your not supposed to do that--rest assured I watched him nap the entire time!).  I guess he didn't want to be swaddled while on his tummy though because I learned yesterday during his nap that with a bit of patience he will go down without the swaddle.  Amazing little guy we have--he communicates so well with us!  Message heard loud and clear baby!

Last night, Daddy convinced me to let Liam sleep alone, after reading to me that after 3-4 months mommy's actually DISTURB the baby during sleep (something about different phases of sleep they cannot enter into).  I disagreed, as I had read they need mommy until 6 months due to SIDS.  Kevin reminded me our Angelcare monitor (thanks Mom!) monitors breathing/movement and will alarm us if he stops breathing (probably safer than sleeping next to mommy, as the Angelcare didn't fit in the bassinet).  As we were discussing this, the alarm sounded and we went running!  Liam had simply slid off of the area covered by the monitor.  PHEW!  Knowing the alarm worked and the timing of it all convinced me that I could leave him alone in his room (and probably should).  Besides, our room is literally next door--I can see his door from our bed (and of course I checked to make sure it was still firmly shut throughout the night!).

Liam had a good night.  He woke twice (around 1:30/2am and again around 5:30am).  Daddy was on duty last night (since mommy had the night before).  Daddy reports he went right back to sleep the first time and the second time was a struggle (later daddy realized Liam had gas!).  As I always say--Liam NEVER cries just to cry.  He always has a reason for his fussiness!  ALWAYS.  Mommy and Daddy just have to figure out what is bothering the poor little guy!

Anyways, my guys let mommy sleep in (desperately needed).  I woke up this morning feeling refreshed and proud of both my boys.  Liam slept fairly well alone in his room and Daddy was able to meet all of his needs throughout the night (not uncommon, but daddy has been struggling with getting Liam down since he decided to sleep on his tummy!).  Nice to know I can count on both of them.  What a blessed mommy/wife I am!

Yesterday was Liam's first trip to the pumpkin patch!  He had a lot of fun--he loved people watching and staring at the pumpkins.  Then, he fell asleep in my arms and stayed fast asleep as we went on the hayride (how he slept through the noise of the tractor and the bumps, I still don't know!).  He slept until we reached the end of the pumpkin patch (leave it to him to miss all of the action).  Here's some photos of the fun and our pumpkin family!

Getting my Pumpkin ready for the pumpkin patch

Ya, our 4 month old stands!  He HATES sitting and has for weeks now!

Thanks for the outfit Auntie Chell'... the hat was too small, as were the socks (so mommy took em' off) but the onesie and the pants fit perfectly!

Our happy family (poor mommy needs some make up, lol!).
Today, Liam laughed out loud!  Up until this point his laughs were more like an "agh" and "eww" but today I tickled him and he laughed loudly.  I asked Kevin if he heard that and he confirmed I was not hearing things and grabbed the camera--check it out!

Now if that doesn't make you smile, I don't think anything will.  It sure melted my heart into a thousand pieces.  So incredibly precious!

Here's another of our happy boy:

I love it!

This lil guy warms my heart!

Today Liam showed us that he can indeed roll over on the floor (up until this point we've only seen him do so from his nursing pillow, on our bed and in his crib!).  Well apparently he has no problem rolling on the floor.  I set him on his tummy for tummy time and he simply rolled over as if it were nothing.  Guess he has been playing tricks on us?!  Also, Liam is getting MUCH better about his car seat now that daddy adjusted the head pad.  He doesn't cry/fuss as much *knock on wood* and we actually completed a trip to Walmart, through Walmart and back with him in the seat (about 20 minutes or so).  Hopefully this is not a fluke!

A couple days ago Liam was eye balling his rocking chair, so I put him in it.  He cried, so I took him out.  But, he continued eyeballing it.  So, I let him play with the toys while holding him next to it.  Then I noticed he was using it as a table and to stabilize himself.  Here's our big boy standing alone:

He loved that the monkey had to sit in the seat!

And here he is attempting to climb into the seat

Liam's adventures with rice cereal have been going wonderful!  We still water it down quite a bit with breast milk, but we're slowly thickening it up.  He seems to like it a thicker consistency (less like drinking from a spoon, which I imagine would be frustrating).  He's also pretty good about getting into his mouth now.  Look at our clean eater:
These are the loves of my life

My bib is fairly clean
Also, I forgot to mention in his 4 month post that Liam has made the transition to eating every 3 1/2 to 4 hours (as opposed to eating every 3 hours).  Also, naps have pretty much decreased to an 1 to 1 1/2 hours (as opposed to every 2 hours).  This seems to be the schedule he likes the most, so we go with it!

And finally, here are some photos I didn't get around to posting at 3 months old (they were on the other camera, which I just found in Liam's room a couple of days ago!).  But, they are far too cute not to post!

My handsome little monster! Ha!

Our little monster is currently in his crib teaching himself to self soothe.  There hasn't been one tear shed tonight at bed time.  He is just struggling to get to sleep because he continues to get on his knees and push up his chest (could he be getting his body prepared for crawling?).  Only time will tell, but as you can see/read there's been a lot of growing up going on over here (why he chose to do it all in one weekend I don't know).

It's a happy, but sad time for mommy (I think daddy is enjoying Liam's new independence!).  But for mommy it makes me miss my lil' baby who needed me for almost everything.  Today he wouldn't nap on me (mommy wanted to snuggle)... so I put him in his crib and he went right to sleep.  I am VERY proud of you Liam, but part of me doesn't want to let go.  You keep doing what you need to do and don't worry about me... I'll work through it.  Happy growing my sweet boy!

Therapy...

Not being silent about our loss is looking to be the best therapy for me during this difficult time. Through Facebook I've had countless friends reach out to me and share their stories of loss. Although it doesn't make me feel better, as we're talking about too many babies in heaven, it does make me feel less alone. So I was diagnosed w/ blighted ovum. Meaning the gestational sac and placenta was growing inside of me (the ultrasound showed it was indeed around 7 weeks along) but the baby stopped developing and was reabsorbed into my uterus. Problem is, the placenta is responsible for pregnancy symptoms, so my body still thinks it is pregnant, but there is no longer a baby or embryo. So, until I actually miscarry the tissue, I will feel pregnant. I don't know how to explain how I've been feeling the past few weeks. At first I thought it was just my uneasy feelings of this pregnancy being "unplanned" and so close to my previous pregnancy. It took me a wh...

25 Weeks & Doctor's Appt.

We hit the 25 week mark today!  Hard to believe!  Time is flying so fast... We had our doctor's appointment today (Kevin is out of town Thursday, so we moved it up).  I weighed in at a whopping 109.8!  My nurse and my doctor's response was they are so so proud of me (I felt so special!  Who would have thought GAINING weight would be so exciting?!).  Kevin's response "WHOA!"  And my response to his "WATCH IT Buddy!"  Ha!  So that's almost 14lbs of weight gain!  I really am quite proud of myself... never thought I could do it (although, I spend most of my time eating these days, so it makes sense). The nurse said I "look cute, am starting to show and have that pregnancy waddle."  Considering I did not feel like I was waddling (sometimes I have to because my tailbone hurts so bad) I was not exactly thrilled about this comment, lol!  I asked Kevin if there is something he is forgetting to tell me... ha! The doctor measured my...
