7 Months

 Photobucket

7 months ago today Kevin and I became parents to the most AMAZING little man. This little guy lights up our lives and warms our hearts. It's truly unbelievable how you can love someone more and more each day. Who knew something so small could make you feel so full and complete!

Liam David you are 7 months old today and your gift is... your first cold. We are awaiting test results and praying you don't have RSV (update: results were negative, thankfully; diagnosis is a very bad cold, but mama and daddy blame the valley air, you always have something going on when we return from there). You're very congested and today you began wheezing. We thought your dry cough was from teething (extra saliva causes that) but yesterday your cough became very congested so we made an appt. for today. You must do breathing treatments every 4-6 hrs (which you hate). TRULY breaks my heart.

But, being the strong little guy you are, you're still happy-go-lucky... proof is in these photos. However, anyone who knows you can see you're definitely under the weather... teething and ill, you poor thing. We're doing everything we can to get you better as soon as possible. Lots of extra cuddling, sleep and mama time for you.

7 month stats

Weight: 15lbs, 15 oz
No length or head measurements this time (laying on your back makes it hard for you to breathe).

Here's what you're up to....

Per Baby Center, skills you should have mastered by now:
*Sits without support-you have been sitting up without support since 12/6. You do so well at it! Never thought we'd make it past the toppling over days.
*Drags objects toward himself-of course, you want EVERYTHING. You are so curious and want to see everything--so you just go for it!

GO NAVY!

Per BabyCenter, skills that may be emerging:
*Lunges forward or starts crawling--you do both and we think crawling is coming any day now! Daddy has even started baby proofing... how exciting! You have mastered crawling backwards and in circles. You DO make forward progress with your lunges, but so far the familiar crawling stance is not your style. Who knows, maybe you're just going to do it your way--after all, it's working just fine.
*Jabbers or combines syllables--you're a talker and people swear they hear you say "mama" when you're upset!
*Starts to experience stranger anxiety--don't know if it's as much this, as it is the teething/not feeling well, but you're VERY clingy to mama. However, you still love to smile and charm people, so don't think we're here yet (will you ever be? You're a really social baby).

Per BabyCenter, advanced skills that some babies can do:
*Waves goodbye--definitely something you're starting to do more often. Takes some encouragement and mama doing it too, but you are definitely starting to use your hands to communicate (remember your first sign last week?!).
*Stands while holding onto something--you've loved to do this for months now and you were just doing it in the doc's office (bead maze doubles as support for practicing your standing!).
*Bangs objects together--we've been working on this with you. You're not too keen on making loud noises. HA! Better enjoy this while it lasts...
*Begins to understand object permanence--you definitely understand this. Daddy was just commenting about this at dinner last night. You drop a toy and know it definitely went down--you stare at it until someone picks it up for you.

Other things you're doing:
*signing milk
*riding on ride-on toys (you hold the handles and sit up so well--it's too cute that you think you're that big of a boy!).
*playing with other kids--you want to be bigger than you are
*falling asleep in your stroller--this was a no, no months ago. Take a look:

Happy daddy!

*riding in your car seat and sleeping in it without tears--you are so much more independent these days
*blowing bubbles--big, drooly, wet ones!
*you recognize and LOVE Mickey Mouse. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (the musical parts) are your favorite!
*you LOVE remote controls, computers and cell phones! Technologically savvy like daddy, huh?
*you love flying like an airplane
*getting into everything--here you are in the paper towels the other night, didn't realize those were unsafe around you

I KNOW I say this all the time, but it's just so true. You are an amazing little boy Liam, very special and unique. I pray that Daddy and I will always have the means to support your amazing abilities. You are special and will definitely be something extraordinary in this world. At 7 months old you've already done and proven so much, I cannot even imagine what will be in the next 7 years (let alone the next 7 minutes). Continue to grow and stay unique Mr. Man. Daddy and I are always here to help in any way we can and are so proud of you.

Happy 7 months sweet boy!

Therapy...

Not being silent about our loss is looking to be the best therapy for me during this difficult time. Through Facebook I've had countless friends reach out to me and share their stories of loss. Although it doesn't make me feel better, as we're talking about too many babies in heaven, it does make me feel less alone. So I was diagnosed w/ blighted ovum. Meaning the gestational sac and placenta was growing inside of me (the ultrasound showed it was indeed around 7 weeks along) but the baby stopped developing and was reabsorbed into my uterus. Problem is, the placenta is responsible for pregnancy symptoms, so my body still thinks it is pregnant, but there is no longer a baby or embryo. So, until I actually miscarry the tissue, I will feel pregnant. I don't know how to explain how I've been feeling the past few weeks. At first I thought it was just my uneasy feelings of this pregnancy being "unplanned" and so close to my previous pregnancy. It took me a wh...

25 Weeks & Doctor's Appt.

We hit the 25 week mark today!  Hard to believe!  Time is flying so fast... We had our doctor's appointment today (Kevin is out of town Thursday, so we moved it up).  I weighed in at a whopping 109.8!  My nurse and my doctor's response was they are so so proud of me (I felt so special!  Who would have thought GAINING weight would be so exciting?!).  Kevin's response "WHOA!"  And my response to his "WATCH IT Buddy!"  Ha!  So that's almost 14lbs of weight gain!  I really am quite proud of myself... never thought I could do it (although, I spend most of my time eating these days, so it makes sense). The nurse said I "look cute, am starting to show and have that pregnancy waddle."  Considering I did not feel like I was waddling (sometimes I have to because my tailbone hurts so bad) I was not exactly thrilled about this comment, lol!  I asked Kevin if there is something he is forgetting to tell me... ha! The doctor measured my...
