Liam is 15 weeks old today (where has the time gone?!). I wish I could say it was a lovely day, but Liam has been really fussy today for no apparent reason (poor little guy!). He is fighting his naps harder than ever lately, so we're thinking the lack of sleep is making him grouchy! He naps in his crib for about 30-45 minutes max (he used to nap for over an hour, sometimes two hours!). We're wondering if he's hitting a growth spurt that keeps him awake?!
He is also waking in the middle of the night (usually only once, but sometimes two-four times a night). The pediatrician said not to nurse him and he doesn't seem interested in doing so, he just needs to be snuggled and usually goes back down. After 6/7am I usually pick him up and cuddle him in our bed (I know they say you shouldn't due to SIDS, but I never even budge and don't put any blankets around him... it's truly my favorite time of day, I LOVE snuggling him!).
We really think he needs rice cereal (he doesn't seem "full" and mommy is losing weight very rapidly, I am below my normal weight--double digits, instead of triple digits) but our pediatrician wants to hold off until he's 5 months! Don't think we'll make it that long, so our goal is 4 months! Everything I have read said when they are sitting up, tracking the food you eat and know what to do with a spoon--it's time. Well Liam is trying very hard to sit up on his own (ab crunchies, as we call them) and can sit up with some support; he has been following our food from plate to mouth for a while now; and today we gave him spoons that promptly went into the mouth, followed by a rolling tongue. They say if baby swallows the rice cereal and doesn't spit it out at you, then they are ready. I guess we'll find out on/around October 13th!
In other news, we bought a new camera this weekend. Kevin and I agreed it was time for a more advanced camera (we both have an interest in photography) and mommy wanted a camera that would capture all of Liam's "moments" (I cannot tell you how many "smiley" shots I've missed because our old camera had to "think" for so long). So far, we're pretty impressed with the camera & quality of the photos.
Here are some fun shots we got while experimenting with our new camera last night/earlier this afternoon:

Not from the new camera, but too adorable not to include!

Getting ready to head out to buy the new camera... Liam's pretty excited about it!
We went to the park today to try out the camera. Here are just some of the beautiful shots we were able to capture! It was Liam's first time getting out of the stroller at the park. We laid him on a blanket under a shade tree and he loved it. He sucked his thumb and stared at the trees and his doggy's running past him. It was also his first time feeling grass between his toes (he smiled, laughed and curled his toes!). We had such a great time watching him as he observed--trees, dogs, leaves (mommy loves fall, too!) and people (he is so curious!).
I've also got some photos that were taken over the past week with the "old" camera (poor camera--really is a nice one, just wasn't meeting our needs anymore!).

Happy boy!

His shirt and bib both say "I love my Mummy"... we're starting Halloween early around here!

Daddy sold his buggy this weekend (it's a 2 seater, so we never take it out anymore!). Here we are getting some photos before we parted!

At 15 weeks Liam is:
-Still working on rolling: he will roll from tummy to back while on the nursing pillow, but not when lying on the floor. Although today Daddy put him on our bed and rolled him around a bit. Then Liam started doing it on his own, so maybe he just needs a bit of encouragement?
-Is taking his pacifier with a ring around it in/out of his mouth. He'll take it out, swing it around and either put it back in his mouth (takes him a bit to find it) or chew on the sides of the paci (it's a Raz teething binky, so it has little "leaves" he likes to chew on).
-He can sit up alone for 30 seconds or so. When you lay him down he tries to sit up (especially when set on an incline). We call it his ab crunchies! With support he can sit up no problem. Also, he does really well in his super-seat, which basically molds to his body but makes him hold his neck/head up himself!
-He is talking a lot. We keep encouraging him to say "dada" or "mama" and last night he kept "talking" to Kevin when he'd say "dada". Liam definitely wants to talk to us.
-Is becoming more independent in many ways. He's falling asleep in the car seat w/ less mommy/daddy support; riding in his stroller for a lot longer before fussing; sitting/playing alone while mommy tends to the dogs, goes to the bathroom or does other absolutely necessary tasks/chores.
We truly have been blessed with the most amazing little guy on Earth! People always comment on how alert, handsome/adorable and precious he is. We could not agree more. We were talking the other night about life before him--we don't even really remember it. What life?! Liam is what life is all about! We are so grateful.
Until next time...
